I have the pleasure to present you an extract from my next album, "RENAISSANCE".
This title "Ici et Maintenant" is the second track of this futur album.

Through this title, it was important for me to share the present moment with the listeners, with my family, with myself. The sounds of the glorious years of the analogue era brought up to date with today's technology, here and now (Ici et Maintenant).

🎼 Regular and deep pulse 🎧

After an introduction to experimental, concrete and drones sounds, the enigmatic atmosphere gradually fades away and gives way to a benevolent global atmosphere.
The arrival of the luminous pads, supported punctually by Gregorian-style choirs, amplifies the notion of infinity.

The soundtrack is then filled with multiple pads and sequential loops. Later, a regular and deep pulse joins the ensemble to give even more life. It is like a heart that begins to beat, heralding a rhythmic surge. The snare drum, then a roll of toms complete the climax of this composition, leaving the vaporous pads and the empathetic choirs ornamented with the atmospheric and spiritual finale.

It is peace, contemplative, here and now (Ici et Maintenant),
a return to the roots of the Berlin School.

Voici comment Yves Blanc présente Sequentia Legenda lors de la sortie du CD et du livre "La Planète Bleue volume 9"

Une révélation, un choc, un bumper !

Il y a des gens, vous en connaissez sûrement, dont la vie s'écoule régulièrement, sans accident, sans à-coup, presque sans surprise, sûrement sans trop de stress, sur un rythme régulier, bien réglé, bien huilé. D'autres en revanche connaissent une vie avec quelques rebonds, parfois des bifurcations soudaines, que ce soit dans leur vie personnelle ou dans leur activité professionnelle. Parfois les deux, d'ailleurs. Ces gens-là ont une vie évidemment plus agitée, plus rebondissante, ils se heurtent parfois à des espèces de bumpers qui les renvoient, qui les réexpédient soudain vers des directions nouvelles, complètement inattendues.

Ça a été le cas du compositeur dont j'aimerais vous parler aujourd'hui, camarades écouteurs : Sequentia Legenda. Le garçon est graphiste, il travaille dans un pays voisin. Un beau jour, il tombe sur un disque de Klaus Schulze, Mirage. Cette écoute est pour lui une révélation, un choc, un bumper justement. Suite à l'écoute attentive de ce disque, sa vie va prendre une nouvelle direction.

Il devient compositeur, très spécialisé dans un secteur pointu que les connaisseurs appellent la Berlin School, les musiques électroniques planantes (voir plage 11). En deux mots, il s'agit d'une musique électronique répétitive plutôt planante, apparue à Berlin au début des années 70, avec Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, et Klaus Schulze, qui donnera naissance, des années plus tard, à la new age, à l'ambient, et à l'electronica. Qu'on l'appelle Kosmiche Musik ou Space Music, qu'il s'agisse de l'Ecole de Berlin ou de l'Ecole de Düsseldorf, plus percussive, plus rythmique, dont les fers de lance ont été Can, Kraftwerk et Neu!, qui ont influencé — certains disent inventé — la techno, toutes ces musiques ont deux choses en commun : elles sont allemandes et audacieuses.

Donc, quand Sequentia Legenda découvre Mirage de Klaus Schulze, sa vie rebondit. Il devient compositeur de musique électronique planante, et il a alors une démarche tout à fait originale. Car la quasi totalité des musiques planantes sont constituées de trois éléments : des nappes de synthé, des boucles de sequencer… et des soli… souvent très chiants, il faut bien l'avouer. Sequentia Legenda a l'intelligence, la sensibilité de bâtir ses musiques, strictement instrumentales, sur les deux premiers éléments seulement : les nappes et les boucles.



Dans ses compositions, aucun solo dégoulinant, aucun solo ennuyeux, mais des nappes d'une grande sophistication, en constante évolution, et des boucles, elles aussi en évolution permanente, parfois d'une grande complexité, même si elles ont toujours l'apparence de l'évidence. 


De Mulhouse, la Berlin School d'aujourd'hui, une musique spatiale, lumineuse et minimaliste, favorable au rêve : Sequentia Legenda sur La Planète Bleue.

ETHEREAL: Next album, official release July 21, 2017

I have the great pleasure to announce you  the imminent release of my fourth album ETHEREAL, which will be officially available to the public on July 21 in dematerialized and physical version.
 

This opus will be an immersive and emotional experience, a tribute to the legendary Moog modular, three titles will be present for a total duration of 70 minutes.

ETHEREAL: an album full of emotions

"ETHEREAL is an album full of emotions, which are present through the sequences and the sonic texture. The Moog Modular brings a particular color to the sound palette of this new opus. I wanted to achieve a result in harmony with my vision of the Berlin school: an extension of this musical movement" Laurent Schieber (Sequentia Legenda)

ETHEREAL: 70 minutes of pure music Berlin School

1. Stratums of Seraphic Voices 26:28

In this first title, the Moog Modular will generate a large sequence bringing in its wake seraphic voices and ethereal choirs.

Through this musical poem, the listener will be invited to live an immersive experience.

2. Around the Second Moon* 22:44

Second track, two Moog Modular synthesizers that complement each other to create two floating sequences around the second moon.

Two musicians working together for the second time: Laurent Schieber (Sequentia Legenda) and * Tommy Betzler.

A journey through time and space around the second moon. 

3. Elevation 20:34

The third track of this album begins with the slow progression of a cosmic sound texture, allowing the sequential lines of both Moog Modular synthesizers develop.

In this sound canvas in perpetual evolution, the pads and ethereal choirs, backed by sonic percussions, invite the listener for an ascent to the stars.

ETHEREAL: a collaboration

 The second track "Around the second Moon", which features drummer Tommy Betzler.
All Tommy's drum parts are placed within the ethereal and cosmic atmosphere of this track.

Lors de sa sortie en 2016, mon double album "EXTENDED" fut présenté de superbe manière par Yves Blanc dans son émission "La Planète Bleue Edito 910" diffusée sur la radio suisse de Couleur3 et en podcast dans le monde entier.

Il y a un an, La Planète Bleue vous révélait un musicien exceptionnel, Sequentia Legenda, un garçon méconnu, secret, qui réinvente pourtant la Berlin School music. Pour ceux qui auraient raté quelques épisodes, la Berlin School est une musique électronique douce, harmonieuse, jubilatoire, inventée par les grands innovateurs allemands des années 70, les Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel et autre Klaus Schulze. C'est la Berlin School qui donnera naissance, des années plus tard, à la new age, à l'ambient et à l'electronica, pas moins. En Allemagne, on l'appelle Kosmiche Musik, en Grande-Bretagne et aux Etats-Unis, Space Music ou space rock, "musique planante" dans le monde francophone. A l'époque, l'Allemagne est incontestablement le pays le plus inventif de la scène musicale mondiale. Les jeunes créateurs sont libres, dépourvus du moindre carcan culturel, et qui plus est, soutenus par toutes les infrastructures des villes allemandes : "Créez, osez, soyez audacieux", leur répète-on à l'époque. Et la jeunesse allemande répond présent. Au même moment d'ailleurs, 500 bornes plus à l'Ouest, une autre école majeure voit le jour : les spécialistes l'appellent l'Ecole de Düsseldorf, plus percussive, plus rythmique, dont les fers de lance sont Can, Kraftwerk et Neu!, qui ont influencé — certains disent inventé — la techno, même si la formule paraît bien réductrice.

Dans le plus grand secret, du fond de sa cave, Sequentia Legenda réinvente aujourd'hui les codes de la Berlin School, en les dépoussiérant, en leur apportant une sacrée fraîcheur, une insolente maturité, une modernité décomplexée. Bon an mal an, il publie un CD par an… en 21 exemplaires ! Oui, oui, vous avez bien entendu : 21 exemplaires pour le monde entier ! C'est dire si la démarche commerciale du garçon est exacerbée. Non, lui se fout de tout ça, des labels, des maisons de disques, de la distribution, tous ces soucis sans intérêt. Lui, son truc, c'est la création, la Berlin School.

Sequentia Legenda sort ces jours-ci son nouvel album, un double CD, Extended, déjà disponible en dématérialisé, sur son site sequentia-legenda.com, et prochainement en physique, un double CD en toute petite série, vous l'aurez compris, il n’y en aura pas pour tout le monde.

Dans ses compositions spatiales et lumineuses, favorables au rêve, au spirituel, aucun solo dégoulinant, aucun ego envahissant, mais des nappes d'une grande sophistication, en constante évolution, et des boucles, elles-mêmes en permanente mutation, parfois d'une grande complexité, même si elles ont toujours l'apparence de l'évidence. C'est ça, l'élégance. Qui plus est, au fil des ans, alors que Sequentia Legenda s'affranchit peu à peu des sons acides de son mentor, Klaus Schulze, la production s'affine, la couleur sonore devient plus chaude, plus chaleureuse, plus confortable, plus grave aussi.

Je ne saurais trop vous recommander l'album physique, qui paraîtra bientôt, avec une vraie pochette, un vrai livret… et un son intégral, non compressé. Un double CD pour seulement 6 titres, on retrouve la pleine tradition de la Berlin School, des morceaux de plus de 20 minutes chacun, et c'est un vrai bonheur. Ce double CD sera disponible dans quelques semaines sur sequentia-legenda.com, mais il est déjà là, sur La Planète Bleue.

Out of the Silence

The collaboration with Kurtz Mindfields (Jean-Luc Briançon) was a great experience.

After having shaped the structure and finalized the composition of my piece "Out of the Silence", I let Kurtz fully immerse himself in the sonic universe that was then created. He managed to decipher my composition in an intelligent and sensitive way, so that we could be on the same page. With subtlety, he managed to include his touches in my soundtrack. 

The result is a symbiosis of both our musical worlds, a passion we both share: Berlin School music.

Sequentia Legenda: "I am pleased to give you the opportunity to listen to the current version of the track. You may find that several listens are necessary to get all the diversity and the subtleties of it. I wanted the atmosphere to be mystical without being too overwhelming, where a smooth development would allow unveiling of all the different sides of Out of the Silence throughout the nine minutes of the piece. The pads are made of minimalist chords. These are backed first by a modular Moog providing a sequential base with three sonic layers, then by the introduction of slowly progressing percussive elements. Transpositions are made with +3 and +5 half-tones in the closing section. The three choir layers complement each other, while at the same time staying in the background in the overall atmosphere. There you are with a brief outline of the development of Out of the Silence."

Kurtz Mindfields: "I will then send you the extra tracks (in stereo), that are all sourced from real analog vintage masters, I had to get these in and out in a hurry earlier than expected because I really have to keep up with the timelines :-)
I often listened to Schulze in his greatest hours, Pete Namlook and also Jonn Serrie, as well as your demo for the track, already in good shape, in order to get to know your tape...I have asked myself how to bring interesting, landmark and emotional ideas without them being too absent or on the contrary too prominent, so that it can be a fitting part of the vinyl in terms of aesthetics, without affecting too much your great work as well...it was actually a lot of work from your side, and i am very happy about it!"

Around the second Moon

I keep on working on my forthcoming album "ETHEREAL". The second track "Around the second Moon", which features drummer Tommy Betzler, is in the mixing process.

All Tommy's drum parts are placed within the ethereal and cosmic atmosphere of this track.

Just as for "Stratums of Seraphic Voices", the first track of the album, the sequential structure is based on the use of Arturia Moog Modular V. A Formant filter (not present on the original instrument) was used.

It was a great experience, rewarding and emotional.
It was a true honor for me to collaborate with Tommy Betzler (who used to work with Klaus Schulze in the 80's). Together, our goal was to pay a tribute to Berlin School music. I believe in this musical style and I am sure it still has bright days ahead. I wish you in advance a very enjoyable listening experience.
